My name is Shelby Allen and I graduated Miriam house in November 2021. I’m one of Miriam house ‘s first fruits you could say. Before coming to Miriam house I was lost in addiction trapped in a cycle I couldn’t seem to get out of. I saw my daughters maybe once a week and I thought that was as good as it was going to get for me. Once I came to Miriam house I learned to trust again , gaining lifelong friendships and bonds that I wouldn’t trade for the world. Miriam house instilled in me good work ethic such as waking up early and working hard at whatever I do. Since graduating, I am with my daughters every day. They are now cultivating their relationship with Jesus and it is a beautiful sight to see. I now work with autistic children helping them grow socially and to be able to better communicate .Miriam house not only touched my life but touched my family’s life along with many children. The Ministry also has an annointed curriculum that truly spoke to me. I remember in one of the books reading about a man who after getting set free went back to college because he knew he wasn’t alone. Well, that planted a seed in me and I am now in college working towards my bachelors to become a teacher. None of this would’ve been possible had God not use Miriam house in a mighty way and for that I am forever grateful. In the beginning, I mentioned being one of Miriam house ‘s first fruits. I am reminded of the words of Jesus where he said to judge them by their fruit. I believe when you judge Miriam house by its fruit, you will find an abundant harvest.

I came from Florida to the Miriam house because I was tired of being in bondage to drugs. My lifestyle was getting me nowhere fast and I had heard only good things about Miriam house! Since being in the program I’ve got my family back in my life and my father and mother came to know the Lord. I see my son more than I ever have. I’ve gotten my high school diploma equivalency, learned boundaries and basic living skills. I have also developed an amazing work ethic while being at Miriam House. The staff are amazing and everyone is there to help you grow and learn. I’ve not only gotten free of the bondage of sin but I also gained family in Christ.
